How to Turn Off Autoplay on Netflix? | [Updated 2022]

Upon opening Netflix, the first thing that pops up is a home screen of rows with all your favorite movies and shows. And the Netflix autoplay trailers for whatever it might be I’m considering to watch start playing as soon if not sooner than pausing during playback- even just for one moment!

What is Netflix Autoplay?

The Netflix algorithm is a bit too smart for its own good sometimes, especially when you’re just trying to find something and a random, somewhat distracting autoplay starts playing. The option is there in the settings page and well worth turning off.

Simply put, you can turn off these autoplays on Netflix. Read on to find out how.

How to turn off Netflix Autoplay Trailers

Follow these steps to disable Netflix’s autoplay feature:

  • Sign in to Netflix on a web browser
  • Go to Profile menu from top right of the screen
  • Go to Manage Profiles.
  • Choose a profile.
  • Go to autoplay options (below the language, profile name, and parental controls)
  • Uncheck “Autoplay next episode in a series on all devices”.
  • Uncheck “Autoplay previews while browsing on all devices”.
  • Apply Changes
  • Sign out and Sign back into Netflix

Netflix said that it can take up to 24 hours before the update has been applied. You should switch profiles and then come back for reloading your own account information on Netflix.

Though it’s rare to find someone who would enjoy the distracting trailers playing, but if you’re good with it, you can simply let things be.

Happy Streaming!
